This may be an odd title for a blog from your insurance agency, but we do more than sell insurance policies. We build relationships with our customers, some of which turn into life-long friendships. When our customers experience loss of a spouse, child, or family member, we may be contacted to make changes on their insurance coverage. This is an opportunity for us to reach out to offer words of comfort and support. This can be a confusing time and you may feel isolated.
During the last 9 years, I’ve volunteered my time to facilitate support groups to help people recover from the death of a loved one. Having experienced losses myself, I understand the deep hurt and numbness one experiences during these tough times.
Reaching out to get help is the first step in recovery. I’m a facilitator for GriefShare which is a national organization offering grief recovery support groups. By going to www.griefshare.org, you can find a listing of group meeting times and locations. The groups meet once a week for 13 sessions. It’s okay to join a group after the sessions have started since they are self-contained units.
If you have questions or need help finding a group, please feel free to give me a call.
